STUDIO KISHMIŚ

Studio Kishmiś is a diasporic art and design practice weaving together displaced materials and ancestral geometries. Operating somewhere between bazaar and botanical garden, the studio’s work focuses on carpets made of reclaimed shoes—part protest, part poetry. Rooted in a Slavic–Persian sensibility, Studio Kishmiś explores textile rituals, public space, and speculative memory through tapestries, installations, and small-edition objects. Alongside ongoing research and collaborations, the studio is developing a series of site-responsive works and absurdly serious merchandise to be released in due time.


Artist Bio
Dana Elmi Sarabi is a visual artist, designer, and cultural researcher of Polish and Iranian decent, currently based in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
She holds an MA in contextual design from the Design Academy Eindhoven and a background in fashion design from the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg.

Her interdisciplinary practice merges critical research with material experimentation to create sculptural and site-specific works. Engaging with diasporic identity and textile traditions, she challenges dominant spatial narratives through works that embrace ambiguity, memory, and transformation. Her MA graduation project „No Shoes On The Carpet“ layed the foundation to KISHMIŚ and its practice of collectible shoe-carpet installation pieces.
